Jennings Osborne Christmas Lights were an elaborate Christmas light display created by Jennings Osborne and his family in the 1980s. The display was located in Little Rock, Arkansas and consisted of over 3 million lights. The display grew in popularity over the years, drawing crowds from all over the United States. Some estimates suggest that as many as 200,000 people visited the display each year.
However, the display also drew controversy, as some neighbors complained about the traffic, noise, and crowds. After a legal battle that went all the way to the Supreme Court, the Osbornes were forced to move the display to the Arkansas Children's Hospital in 1996.
The display continued at the hospital for several years, and eventually inspired Disney to create a similar display at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida. The display, called the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, ran from 1995 to 2015.
Jennings Osborne passed away in 2011, but his legacy lives on through the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, as well as the many people who still remember and celebrate the original Jennings Osborne Christmas Lights in Little Rock, Arkansas.
